I was invited to join a team of two and I was offered an opportunity to create a unique blockchain application within a week using Niantic Lightship technology for an AR application for NFTs.
Nevertheless
It felt overwhelming at first, as I had so many questions that needed answers about NFTs, web3 & Lightship. My goal was to make every knowledge I gained, work in designing a blockchain masterpiece!
An NFT is a digital asset that represents real-world objects like art, music, in-game items and videos. They are bought and sold online, frequently with cryptocurrency, and they are generally encoded with the same underlying software as many cryptos.
Precisely, it felt overwhelming at first, as I had so many questions that needed answers about NFTs, web3 & Lightship. So my goal was to make my every knowledge gained work in designing a blockchain masterpiece!

The NFT industry is a big deal! It’s not like any ordinary industry. In this industry, the people involved range from youths to middle aged men and women. These people all have different roles from the NFT Owners to NFT Creators to the NFT Buyers. These three different roles think differently and see differently. So, I had to make a logo and also a mobile app that could fit anywhere between these different personalities.
Well, every good project kicks off with a good plan. However, this didn’t take the ideal app design process, but I started by following these steps:
Research
Brand design
Sketches
Wireframes
Finding UX issues
Design
I prepared myself and kicked off with Google searches. I didn’t have so much idea and understanding about the NFT industry then. My purpose was to learn about NFTs, the users' information, and their problems. I used the first few days to learn how these things work and how users interact with and in this industry. I went on to explore available NFT apps for similarities, pros and cons and what could be improved in sync with this project. Reviewing these apps and the Industry, these things stood out across the board, which were Simple Interface, Transparency & Design consistency
A logo is not just a symbol or a colorful presentation, It is the perception of an image that helps people to understand the meaning. I started with the user target in mind. As I shared previously, our target audience ranges from youths to middle-aged men and women like us. So I wanted to make a simple visual, where it could present the message of these different personalities at once. that
After gathering as much information as I could to kick start the project in 72 hours; I had a vision of how the app would function. I then started with mapping the user’s flow. This helped me understand how a user would interact with the app. I moved on with sketches then I finalised the Flowchart with FigJam.finalized
My imagination of how I visualised the app design.
While dealing with the visual presentation of the mobile app, I had to make a decision on what Color palette, Typography and Icon to work with.
I chose a bright blue color for the project. The color blue symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, and truth. So I couldn’t resist not using this color as a primary color. Additionally, I used off-black and white for complementing colors.
I used the Jost font family and it was designed by Owen Earl. I fell for Its simplicity and modern look. Jost was the real deal as it is a gorgeous font family and it stood out for me.
Icons are an important part of any project. It gives a premium and professional vibe. They communicate with users and help them understand the words easily. So I fetched an icon pack, iconhub.io, which synced with the Visual direction for this project. They have a great collection of premium-looking icons, which are absolutely free.
Here is how the final app designs look after testing and iterations.
